About
Mike Hardesty
Your
web design is a top priority for Mike. He has had vast experience
designing web sites for schools, companies and organizations. He earned
B.S. and M.S. degrees from Indiana State University in
1974-1975 in
Music Education. After teaching for three years and working for Paige's
Music for 11 years, he got back into teaching. He served
on the Vigo County School Corporation Technology Committee while he
taught at Sarah Scott Middle School and then served on a similar
committee at Southwest Parke School Corporation. He designed
and
implemented websites for both Sarah
Scott and Riverton Parke Jr.-Sr.
High School. He headed the Buddy System Project
at Sarah Scott which was a
statewide pilot program in the 1990's that placed computers
in
students' homes to complete schoolwork and facilitate communication
with others via email and the Internet.
Sarah Scott was the first middle school in the project. In addition to
his music duties, he was a
Technology Resource person at both schools. Extending technology into
the music classroom was next, again at both schools. This included
helping implement, and teaching music from, a computer-controlled
Yamaha piano keyboard lab at Sarah Scott provided by Rose-Hulman
Institute of Technology. Web-based
interactive lessons, practice and other tasks were offered to band,
orchestra and choir students with group-specific websites that
he developed as
the
center of instruction. In December, 2014 he earned the CompTia A+ IT
Certification, a
nationally-recognized certification for Information Technology
professionals that demonstrates competence in many computer-based areas
and subjects. He is now an
Adjunct Instructor at Ivy Tech in IT subjects. Upon his retirement from music education in
2014, he has
devoted much time and effort developing websites. His love of
photography helps add variety to his sites. Calling upon his
professional musical training, he also provides musical entertainment
at events, playing piano, guitar, bagpipes and other instruments. |
